Valley Of Fire State Park - Overton, Nevada

After repeated visits over the past 15 years this still is one of our US favorite campgrounds: it is clean & quiet, featuring beautiful red rock scenery close to Las Vegas (an advantage for jet-lagged tourists). Sites are ample, concrete and virtually level, pull through or back-in. A fire pit, great views all day long, lots of trails, petroglyphs around the corner and an easy going atmosphere amo...

Elkwood Campground - Kananaskis, Alberta

Roomy, deep campsites. Scenery is second to none. Paved interior roads, gravel sites. All with firepit. Great place to hike and disconnect. No cell service, no wifi! Sewer is dump stations, a couple of kms down the road. Take a break.

Cherry Creek State Park - Aurora, Colorado

We stayed here for 7 nights and had a great time. Beautiful park with ample bike and hiking trails and lake. Laundry facilities are very nice and WiFi was very good

Angel Fire RV Resort - Angel Fire, New Mexico

This is one of our favorite RV Parks. Beautiful views and spaces. Staff is exceptional and the resort is top notch. Activities planned throughout the week. Will definitely return next summer

Winhall Brook COE - South Londonderry, Vermont

This is a great park! Most sites are without hookups, only a few with water/electric 30a. Getting to the South side of the CG where the sites are with hookup requires going across a narrow bridge with a 16 ton weight limit (see pic). Nothing bad at all to say about this park. Phone service is lacking, T-Mobile was non existent which didn't surprise me. Satellite TV was limited due to tal...

Road America (Race Track) - Plymouth, Wisconsin

We’ve been staying in Trackside electric sites for many years. Great views of the racing and this is the most open and accessible track. Sites in turn 1 can be tough to get in to, especially when full. Larger rigs will find the electric sites across from pit lane easier. 30 Amp RVs must bring a 50 amp adapter. 2 dump sites available on site and mobile pump outs available.

Lillydale Campground COE - Allons, Tennessee

Lillydale is my new favorite campground when we really want to get away! We had a beautiful, spacious waterfront site. Some of the waterfront sites are closer together. You can pull your boat right up to your waterfront site and keep your kayaks there as well. There is an island for primitive camping only, but it’s closed this season due to flooding this spring. Because of the flooding, several s...

Fisherman's Corner COE - Hampton, Illinois

Likely the best designed park we’ve ever stayed in. We travel in a very large 5th wheel and It’s amazing how easy the site is to back in to. Each site has 30 & 50 amp (easily handles multiple A/C) and conveniently located water faucets for filling tanks at your site. Dual dump stations make it quick and easy when departing or arriving. Many sites have a great view of the Mississippi River and a ...

Margaritaville RV Resort At Lanier Islands - Buford, Georgia

We love this campground. This is our 2nd time staying here for a week. We like spots 9, 10, and 12 because these sites have a great back area for cooking and hanging with friends. Get a golf cart. We love the water park too.

Eagle Cliff Campground & Lodging - Lanesboro, Minnesota

Beautiful grounds. Lots of grass. It's cut nice and short. Well kept. Can almost see the river from our campsite. We walked to the river last night. Flowing good. They offer tubing here we're debating trying it out. I've never gone tubing before. They also have bike rentals, and canoe rentals. Reasonably priced. Restroom are very clean. Showers looked nice size. We didn't use t...

Castle Rock County Park - Friendship, Wisconsin

We come here every year with friends and use the group campsite. While the entire park is nice, the group site is off on its own and gives you plenty of space to set up any way you see fit. Be sure to check out the sandy, clean beach. If you have a boat, there’s a boat launch and convenient parking. Facilities are clean (including showers) and are maintained throughout the day. For kids, there is ...

Edgar Evins State Park - Silver Point, Tennessee

This park was surprisingly beautiful. Spent one day boating on the lake, another day canoeing on the river, and each night BBQing at the unique wood deck campsite. This park is clean, quiet, and beautiful. Also had good wifi at our particular site. The only downside may be the access to the water from the campsite, and the confusing roadway. Other than that we had a great time and will be back!

Paradise Stream Family Campground - Loysville, Pennsylvania

Park is very nice and well maintained. Golf cart rental, lots of trails to ride, plenty to do

Roosevelt State Park - Morton, Mississippi

This is a beautiful park very conveniently located just off I-20, but absolutely no highway noise. We loved the peace and quiet in the woods. Located around Shadow Lake, the park offers a lot for many types of campers. Not only were there RV campsites, but tent sites, a lodge, boat ramp, fishing piers, pool and water slide, group buildings and pavilions. Two camping areas are available, the old, ...

Vagabond Village - Park Rapids, Minnesota

We called at the last minute and they were able to get us a spot. What an amazing resort, everything from a pool to a beach. The sites are level and the interior roads and sites are gravel. There is game room for the kids. Restrooms and showers are immaculately clean, along with clean washers and dryers. Wifi is among the best we've experienced in our travels. They also offer pontoon boats, c...

Fisherman's Corner COE - Hampton, Illinois

This is a small COE campground right on the edge of the Mississippi River. Easy access from I-80 and the river trail. The campground is small, but clean and well-kept, even though it is recovering from some Spring flooding. The spaces are level and have a nice gravel patio area. A few on the end have better views than others. It is near a well-traveled road that generates traffic noise during the ...

10 Places To Camp Near Refreshing Swimming Holes

Baby, it’s hot outside! What better way to cool off than by jumping into a refreshing swimming hole?

Wildfire Safety Tips That Could Save Your Life

Wildfires can occur for a variety of reasons, but most are caused by human actions, whether directly (ie unattended campfires, fireworks) or indirectly (transformer sparks, powerline arcing, etc).  The National Park Service estimates that only about 10% of wildfires are started by natural causes such as lightning. Regardless of how they are started, they are […]
